George Ranch Longhorns,
Summer is almost here! As we begin to close out the 2011-2012 school year, it is important that we continue to plan for the upcoming school year. It is hard to believe, but it is finally here….George Ranch High School will have a senior class! I hope the enclosed information with our annual mail-out is informative and helpful in planning for summer and fall 2012 activities. Please do not hesitate to contact George Ranch High School if you need any additional information. We would be happy to help! Contact information is available on our campus website.
Please find enclosed the following information that is important for your child’s continued academic success at George Ranch:
· Summer and Fall 2012 Event Calendar: Please see the back of this letter!
· Fall 2012 Course Verification Form: Please confirm your child’s courses are correct for the fall 2012 semester. If you wish to make any changes, counselor contact information is included on the verification form. Please note the deadline for contacting the counselor as they are off contract during the summer.
· PSAT Registration Form: LCISD will pay for all 10th grade students to take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. However, it is our expectation that all 9th and 11th grade students take the PSAT on October 17th as well. The cost of the PSAT test for 9th and 11th grade students is $14.00. GRHS has ordered additional PSAT tests (500) so the first 500 9th and 11th grade students to register and pay the $14.00 will take the PSAT on October 17, 2012. The PSAT test is used to determine National Merit Scholars (11th grade) as well as enhance our students skills in taking the SAT and ACT college entrance exams. PSAT test preparation course information is included as well. If you have any questions regarding PSAT registration on October 17, 2012 – please contact Carin Reeves or Nate Session.
· Summer School Registration: Summer school registration begins Tuesday, May 1, 2012 and continues through Friday, June 1, 2012. You or your child may turn in the summer school registration form and payment to the Student Service Window and counselors will conference with each student regarding their summer school registration during your child’s scheduled lunch. A confirmation receipt will be sent home with your child. If you have any questions regarding summer school registration – please contact Christy Tucker or Tim Walker.
· AP/PAP Summer Reading Information: If your child is enrolled in an AP/PAP English or social studies class for the 2012-2013 school year, please ensure you read through the summer required reading information. If you have any questions, please contact ELA Department Chair, Julie McGuane, or social studies department Chair, Margaret Wilkening.
· Freshmen orientation (Fish Camp) is schedule on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Incoming ninth grade students are encouraged to attend and it promises to be a great morning at the ranch! Please email Student Council Director, Sarah Hlavac, at shlavac@lcisd.org to confirm your ninth grader’s attendance at Fish Camp.
